Way back when... In 1842 Mr. Robert Graham, a discerning gentleman, arrived in New Zealand. Whereupon he heard remarkable stories of the little known Waiwera Hot Springs, North of Auckland. The story of a Mr Johnson is typical.
By 1875 Graham had turned Waiwera into a prosperous, and indeed famous health spa, to which visitors travelled from all over the country, and some further, to ‘take the waters’, now widely referred to as “The Elixir of Life.” Around 100 years later, John St Clair Brown, another discerning gentleman, happened upon the same magnificent Waiwera Valley where he learned of the remarkable stories of Messrs Graham and Johnson, and the elixir of life. So compelled was Brown that he too set about buying the property (minus the fine cows and fruit), which he owns to this day.
Passionate about health and longevity and tired of being served water imported from Europe, Brown began a quest to develop “the perfect drinking water” a project that was to take him to all four corners of the globe over ten years and result in Waiwera Artesian Water
