Worlds best bottle... The perfect drinking water requires the perfect vessel and for this Waiwera turned to inventor, designer and award-winning bottle boffin, David Melrose. Fortunately David is a lot smarter than the designers from 1875 so while his award-winning bottle retains the cool parts of the original design, like its asymmetric shape and bold embossing, it manages to leave behind the more harebrained aspects like its special ‘bottomless lie flat feature’ and cork stopper.
Look closely at the bottle and you will see that it is completely ‘free form’. Flowing naturally, it is non-concentric and subtly different from every angle, giving the impression that it was hand blown using traditional techniques. Rest assured however, that it was actually made by huge machines in a factory in Auckland.
In 2006, our bottles won more awards than you can shake a stick at, including “best bottle in the world”, so we decided to keep working with David, our bottle boffin, to see if we couldn’t win a few more next time.
